What to expect

Building Your Story for a Startup is an in-person evening in Washington, DC run through the DC Startup Founder 101 group and the Penn West Founder Institute. The event page describes it as a satellite track on turning a technical interest or side project into a business. The session walks through testing an idea and what the first 90 days of building a company actually look like, and it includes time with local mentors. That makes it practical rather than inspirational: come with the project you have been circling and leave with a clearer sense of what to do next.

Who should attend

This is a fit for engineers, researchers and operators who have a side project or an idea but have not started a company yet, and for first-time founders new to the DMV who want to meet mentors in person. You do not need a finished product to get something out of the conversation.

Venue and access

The session is at 1701 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 19. It is in person, so plan your route ahead of the evening.

How to register

The Meetup page asks attendees to RSVP through the Founder Institute link. The page does not list a ticket price and says the session is free with an existing pass, so if you do not already hold one, check with the organizer what applies to you before you head over.
