What to expect

This is a morning fireside chat from Anchor Ventures, a collaboration between the University of Maryland, Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, sponsored by the Maryland Department of Commerce. The subject is dual-use technologies, meaning innovations with both military and civilian applications.

The discussion focuses on the gap between technology developers and the end users who rely on their products. Topics include:

  • Understanding operational needs
  • Accessing the resources needed to move technologies from development to real-world use
  • How dual-use strategies can expand market potential
  • The needs of military and civilian end users in healthcare and national security

Who should attend

The organizers describe a conversation for people working at the intersection of innovation, healthcare, and national security. Given the speakers' backgrounds, it is most relevant to a founder building in biotech, medtech, or another field with a possible military customer.
