What to expect
Science in the City is a relaxed after-work happy hour hosted by 4MLK at the BioPark. The organizers state there are no pitches, panels or formal agenda. The time is for conversation, meeting new people and exploring possible collaborations across Baltimore's science, technology and innovation community. Because nothing is programmed, what you get from the two hours depends on the conversations you start, so it helps to arrive knowing what you want to learn or who you hope to meet.
Who should attend
The event is aimed at innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, creatives and resource leaders from across the Baltimore region. For a founder new to the DMV, it is a low-pressure way to meet people in the local science and innovation scene, and it is especially relevant if you work in life sciences or health. Founders looking for structured investor access or a stage to present on will not find that format here.
Venue and access
The event takes place in the Civic Lounge at 4 N Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21201. The address is 4MLK, the newest building at the University of Maryland BioPark, on the western edge of downtown. Technical.ly reports that the building has 250,000 square feet across eight floors, with wet lab space, flex offices and other amenities for life sciences companies. The 4MLK calendar describes itself as a gathering place for the regional innovation ecosystem.
How to register
Registration is free and needs no approval on the Luma event page. The form asks two questions: what best explains your connection to the 4MLK Knowledge Community, and how you heard about the event. The event runs from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
